About BoogieJack.com

BoogieJack.com has been online continuously since 1997. At it's peak it was regularly receiving over 200,000 unique visitors per month. The highest month ever, June of 2014, registered 419,661 total visitors. And then...

My site was hacked, but not in an obvious way. The hacker used a hidden script to siphon traffic from the site, which also caused problems with the search engines, eventually resulting in the site losing first page placement (and often the #1 spot) for numerous search terms.

At the same time I was writing a book on web design so I attributed the loss of traffic and sales to me not having the time to be as proactive as I had been. To make matters worse...

My eyes started to get blurry from too much time on the computer. I was not only losing traffic, but I couldn't work near as many hours. Lost traffic and less productivity meant a serious loss of income.

After working for myself for 19 years, I had to get a real job again. I quit updating my site. I quit writing my two newsletters (I had close to 100,000 subscribers total—one was even named Best Ezine of the Year by a newsletter review company).

What happened next is unbelievable...

I was working as route salesman heading south on the interstate. A semi driver heading north lost control and came flying across the median in front of me. There was no time to avoid the collision, estimated at over 100mph! The lucky part—I miraculously escaped any life-threatening injuries. A surgery, some cortisone injections, and 19 months of rehab and I was almost as good as new!

A had a lot of time to think during the recovery process. I decided to retire and rebuild this site, only instead of selling products to earn a living, everything would be free. I'd accept tips to cover the operation costs. If the tips don't do it, I'll either retire the site or do something else with it.

That's the "Boogie Jack" story up to now.
