What is subscripted text?

Good question, you little HTML rat!

Subscript is where text is placed lower than the text baseline. For example, the formula for glucose is C₆H₁₂O₆ (meaning the glucose molecule is 6 carbon atoms, 12 hydrogen atoms and 6 oxygen atoms). The numbers (6, 12, 6) in that formula are subscript text.

Here's how to code subscript text:

Normal text, <sub>subscript text.</sub>

That would look like this on a web page:

Normal text, _{subscript text.}
