The buttons across the top change depending on what stage of making buttons you're in. It's easy to work, you shouldn't have any trouble. In this screen shot, I've just added the text so the Undo button is activated. If I hadn't added text it would say insert. Click the Insert button and type in your text. Then you can choose your font, font color, and font shadow options. You can adjust the button size and bevel before or after adding text.
