Random Thoughts

This page is a small collection of random thoughts. It is my hope you will find something that inspires you, and sends you down your own thought path that becomes greater than the source of inspiration.

At the very least, I hope you find it useful or entertaining in some way.

Remember, what goes on in your mind is the key to success in business and in life. As Henry Ford said, "If you believe you can or believe you can't, you're right!"

Napoleon Hill put it another way, "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve."

You future lies before you. The choices you make today and every day are the bridges you will cross over to claim your future. Each choice you make changes the landscape of the future. Each choice, however subtle it may be, changes who you will become.

Enjoy!

random thought1 Many people who want to start an online business fail to take meaningful action. If you fall into that group, don't worry, it's a common malady. To break free ask yourself this question:

"I haven't taken action yet because           ."

Find your "because" and you'll find your biggest road block. Then smash through it, go around it, or climb over it and take action. You'll never know what you can accomplish until you dare greater than you've dared before!

random thought2 Learn to listen! It's a lost art in this age of vanity. We have two ears and one mouth. Maybe that means we should listen twice as much as we talk.

Here are three powerful reasons to be a good listener:

  1. People love talking about themselves, let them and they'll naturally like you
  2. You'll learn more by listening.
  3. Your mind will expand with ideas you wouldn't have thought of if you did most of the talking
As David J. Schwartz, Ph.D. wrote in the book The Magic of Thinking Big, "Remember, big people monopolize the listening, small people monopolize the talking."

random thought3 People say they want the freedom and opportunities an Internet business offers. They dream of being their own boss. They dream of a life of ease. And why not, after all…

The dream merchants make it sound so good—no time clock, work when you feel like it, make your own rules, work from home, make money in your sleep . . . this is what they think freedom is.

But is it?

Why do those who say they want the freedom an Internet lifestyle offers fail to make a plan and take action? Why do they keep buying product after product to learn more when they already know enough to get started? Why do they hesitate? Why don't they spread their wings and try to fly?

Do they really want freedom?

Or do they want the comfort of the familiar?

I believe many who say they want the freedom an online business can bring do not really want freedom, they want security.

But wait, an online business can be started in your spare time. They can keep working their day job until they are successful. So why then, do I say they really want security?

They want emotional security! Their conscious mind may say they want an online business, but their ego (subconscious mind) is protecting them from the possibility of failure and emotional pain.

They're not giving themselves the freedom to fail.

For them, the pull of emotional security is a stronger pull than the desire for freedom.

How long will they stand at the foot of the mountain wishing they were at the top? When will they start climbing the mountain and give themselves a chance to succeed?

Each individual has to make that decision alone, and there's little emotional security in that. So they keep learning without taking risks. It's safe.

If you want to succeed, you have to be willing to fail.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled diversion.
