HTML Sub Tag Tutorial

Browser Support

Internet Explorer Firefox Opera Safari Chrome

The HTML sub tag allows you to place subscripted text on your web page.

What is subscripted text?

Good question, you little HTML rat!

Subscript is where text is placed lower than the text baseline. For example, the formula for glucose is C6H12O6 (meaning the glucose molecule is 6 carbon atoms, 12 hydrogen atoms and 6 oxygen atoms). The numbers (6, 12, 6) in that formula are subscript text.

Here's how to code subscript text:

Normal text, subscript text.

That would look like this on a web page:

Normal text, subscript text.
